This listing is for metric fasteners that fit imperial. 1/2″ equivalent is M12 and the I.D is 0.7mm smaller but will be fit for purpose in the majority of circumstances.
A washer has multiple purposes depending on its shape, form and material. Generally speaking, a washer is used to:
